Dinner and a Mint

Thursday, September 30th

Today was a light travel day for a change, we started it at Panera for breakfast, before we wondered to downtown Denver.
Our first stop was the Denver Mint. The tour was guided, starting with history of how the mint got started how it does business, plus alot of displays of equipment, coins, and machinery....BUT... it was disappointing due to the plant being idle at the time of our tour....we took it off our "must see" list in Denver. Of course we could not take any photos, security was same as Airport precautions.

After that stellar tour we visited the State Capital Building, holy cow was it a work of art!! This structure is top notch, loaded with construction details rarely seen outside of our Nations Capital.

This was a typical window and door detail throughout the building, all beautiful hardwood.

View to the west.

All the railings were brass wrapped, with brass ballasters, thousands of em! The wainscot was all Rose Marble, the exterior was all limestone, and it was perfectly maintained inside and out.

While driving around Denver for a little while I did see this sign which I thought was just too wild!
Double click on the picture to see the full service provided by this particular establishment!

We relaxed in Capital Park, people watching and sitting in the shade, since it was in the upper 80's, typical weather while we were there. Then wandered over to Cake Crumbs to see Nikki, see the next picture....she really does work!!!

We had dinner plans arranged with a long time "Cyber" friend from Aurora, Debbie. She suggested we join her at Rock Bottom Brewery on 16th street mall. Which is a walk only/shuttle/street full of bars shops restaurants, and half the population of Denver great food, and atmosphere...like usual the weather was perfect, here we all are.

We had a great time talking about EVERYTHING! Deb seemed happy we were not psyhco..i don't know why she would be nervous...we all had fun..Hung out till around 10pm, then dropped off Nicole and called it a night.
