We got into Las Vegas during the day, found the "strip" and drove.
There were alot of people in Vegas for October middle of the week!!!
It's almost impossible to make a turn due to ALL of the people crossing the street!
We checked into the Monte Carlo, 27th floor. This is looking out our window towards the mountains:
This is looking down to the pools from our window:
We were next to New York, New York and a "short" walk from all the others!
LOL - Nothing is a short walk in Vegas! We had no idea what to expect since we had never been to Vegas before. Geeze, these places are HUGE! You walk everywhere, no benches for old butts to rest on. There are trams to use, but these are generally at the back of the properties. You walk through, find the tram, get on and go to another hotel/casino and walk all the way to the front of that property....of course you can stop and gamble, shop, eat, or visit....or rest! LOL Each place was very unique and larger than life. We did A LOT of walking everyday. The trams did not go to all the properties so we still needed to walk on the sidewalks and those were not always easy to use due to all the people. Man, I cannot image being there when it is busy!
Here are some of the properties:
This is Aria/Crystals next to us
The Rio behind us
New York, New York to the other side of us, with a roller coaster
Caesars Palace
MGM Grand
Us beside The Excalibur
I found a Coca Cola store.....ahhhh, I'm happy. David was drooling looking at the wall of color in M & M world. We won't discuss how much 2.5 lbs cost! They are tasty!!
The strip at night, NY, NY to the left and Paris, Eiffel Tower, in the middle
The front of our hotel at night
MGM lion
Fountain show in front of the Bellagio....really cool
One night we ate at the Harley Davidson Cafe. There is a 2-story flag on one wall, made out of chain and painted. There is a conveyor that circles the room, up one wall - across to the other side - down the wall on the other side, and back across. There were 4 different bikes that were in rotation. It was pretty cool! Other bikes and memorabilia were around the room.
The first night we were in Vegas we got tickets to see comedian Frank Caliendo, he does impressions also. Pretty funny guy, I thought David was gonna wet himself at one point, he was laughing so hard and kept saying "I can't stop laughing."
The next night we had reservations for dinner at Beso, the restaurant owned by Eva Longoria Parker. It was expensive but very yummy. We highly recommend it!! The guacamole was YUM, mushroom soup creamy & rich, skirt steak was so very good. David had a whole sea bass he enjoyed! And the pineapple upside down cake was to die for!!!
The next afternoon we saw Menopause the Musical, David was rolling on the floor laughing. Dinner our last night was at Brand, the steakhouse. OMG, was that one GREAT bone in filet! Everything was DELICIOUS!
We had breakfast at MacDonald's, Subway, and Einstein's.....we were saving for the big meals at night! The Bellagio had a chocolate shop that had a 2 story chocolate fountain with milk, dark, and white chocolate! The garden at the Bellagio was so beautiful. Beautiful tile mosaics was everywhere.
We did gamble at the casino at our hotel and at Caesars Palace. Man, it was tough.....we lost all the money we started with...all 6 dollars! I did last longer on the penny slots than David!! But in the end, we were losers!
There were people at every corner trying to get you to take information about escorts that come to you! It was tough, but we resisted.
More taxi's than we have ever seen! When my feet gave out and we took a taxi back to our hotel, 1-1/2 blocks, it cost almost $10!
David said the shopping mall at Crystals was full of places he's never heard of...thank heavens! Gucci, Prada, Tiffany, Lois Vitton, Tom Ford, Dior, like Rodeo drive concentrated. He wouldn't buy me anything! (sniff, sniff) LOL
We did feel like we were in a foreign country, so many different languages being spoken. It was fun to people watch, different fashions, different shapes, all the shops were elaborate to entice you to spend your money. It was quite an experience for our naive, small-town self.
On to another adventure.......
